PBA Draft 2010, there's too much I in Al-HUSSAINI

For the Top pick of PBA Draft 2010 Air 21 select (drum rolls) Severino Baclao....

PBA fans Noy Baclao was the top pick. Everybody was surprised about it including RABEH AL-HUSSAINI.

His leading the polls, votes for the top pick prior to the PBA Draft 2010. Apparently he wasn't. But what was more surprisingly was the comment made Rabeh about his selection that he was "insulted". First, I thought playing for the PBA was the ultimate goal when you are playing in the NCAA or UAAP so it doesn't matter whether you're a top pick or second round pick. Second will he be in the trading block because playing for a team that embarrasses you doesn't make sense? Third, can he get a deal? Fourth, he was tagged to represent the country to play for Smart Gilas Team and then he declared himself available for the draft. Lastly, he was an UAAP MVP and Finals MVP and he enjoys so much fanfare because people see him play nationwide and that's the key to being a top pick.

I thought he should be happy for his teammate being selected at number one. Cherish cheesy moments right? I thought he could say thank you first the Air 21 for the opportunity and PBA. I thought good sports and competitiveness was being taught in the school. I thought playing basketball was all about the team. And I thought there's too much I in Al-HUSSAINI.

Noy : Are you mad at me?
Rabeh : Hope you'll be a bust...

Cds are long gone..

Consider this post to know more about me, since this is a personal blog, it would be better for me to post on who am I. I love music - a music lover. I'm incline more on rap music. Back in the days, as high school freshman I started collecting albums on cd. There's a point where my classmates will try to write lyrics then rap it to tune of Tupac, Bizzy Bone on the next day, Ice Cube or Notorius B.I.G another day.

From Ph1l1p

My goal was to buy six feet tall cd rack and complete all the slots available. As you notice in the picture above it wasn't accomplished, from the flooring it my collections only reaches 3/4 of the stand fan which, estimates to mere 4 ft tall. I wasn't able to buy the rack and by the time I started working I thought I can continue my collection but I only managed to buy a CD Album. This is the time when Pres. Erap was elected could it be the reason or because my priorities started to change focus more on needs rather than wants. Instead of cds which will costs you P500-P1000 I just bought some food good for one-three days. Or is it because the digital music started to boom, where you can download all new songs for free. Or is it because the music that were released doesn't sits with me well. Neyo, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga? No offense because I'm too ghetto for that. Yes, you can call me that. What did I just blog?

Watching PBA Finals

I'm rooting for San Miguel Beermen to win the Championship but they're now down 0-2.

via
The sight of Miami head coach Eric Spoelstra at ringside provided some inspiration for the Alaska Aces, particularly on Diamon Simpson.

“I was aware he was around. His presence was truly inspirational,” said the prolific import who turned in another double-double effort in Alaska’s 94-90 victory against San Miguel Beer Sunday that gave the Aces a 2-0 lead in their PBA Fiesta Conference Finals at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Aces showed tremendous poise in face of repeated comebacks by the defending champions, wrapping up the game with steady shooting from the free throw line in the last 77 seconds.

“We didn’t expect this. But we played great basketball,” said Alaska coach Tim Cone

And Simpson led another tremendous effort by the Aces, turning in 29 and 17 rebounds. He fouled out with 29 seconds remaining but not after hitting four straight free throws that put the Aces ahead, 91-88, with 42 second to play.

I really don't know what happened to Gabe Freeman and Dondon Hontiveros - shooting nightmare? Since they lost, I'll post no pictures. :P

The Big Celtic

The Celtics gets older. With the addition of Shaq O'neal, a 15th time All-Star, on Boston line-up, they become much much older. Danny Ainge formula was to surround young Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins with veteran players maybe to guide them.

via
BOSTON, MA - The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed free agent center Shaquille O'Neal. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"It is not every day that you can add a player of Shaquille's caliber to your team," said Danny Ainge, Celtics President of Basketball Operations. "His past experience speaks for itself and we believe that he is a great fit for our roster."

O'Neal, a 7'1" center, posted averages of 12.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and shot 56.6% from the field last season in 53 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The former Louisiana State Tiger is a three-time NBA Finals MVP (2000, 2001, 2002) and former NBA MVP (2000). He has been named to 15 All Star games and also has been named All-Star Game MVP three times. His 15 All-Star appearances are the second most all-time behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 17. He is a member of four NBA Championship teams (3, Los Angeles Lakers, 2000, 2001, 2002; 1, Miami Heat, 2006). One of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history (he was youngest member of this team, at the age of 24, when it was named in 1996), O'Neal also is one of just three players in NBA history to be named league MVP, All-Star Game MVP and Finals MVP in the same season (1999-2000).

"I am honored to be joining the Celtics," said O'Neal. "I have played against Paul, Ray, Kevin, Rajon, and Jermaine for many years and it will be great to be able to call them my teammates. I cannot wait to get to Boston to get started in pursuit of another championship."

The first overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft by Orlando, O'Neal has posted career averages of 24.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. He also has appeared in 214 career playoff games with averages of 24.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.1 blocks. O'Neal is the fifth leading scorer in NBA history (28,255 points) and is 14th in NBA history in total rebounds (12,921).

Whether Jermaine O'neal or Shaquille O'neal will start in replacement of injured Kendrick Perkins, they both provide inside presence.
