Newest Celtic Jermaine O'neal

Boston Free Agency plan was to acquire at least another big man in replacement of their starting center Kendrick Perkins.

The Boston Celtics officially signed Jermaine O'Neal on Wednesday.

"When the opportunity arose for me to join an organization like the Celtics, I could not refuse," said the 6-foot-11, 255-pound center. "I cannot wait to get to Boston and start to practice with the rest of the team in pursuit of a championship."

O'Neal says he's hungry for a ring and knows the Big Three and the remaining core from the 2008 title team are hungry for another, so that's why he chose Boston over other suitors.

"When he comes back, it's his position to have," O'Neal said. "I'm just here to do my job. I'm not trying to step on anybody's feet. I'm not trying to do anything to cause any issues. I'm here to win. That's just really what it boils down to.

"I probably wouldn't have wanted to back up anybody. But this situation is proven, and why come in and try to mess up something that's already proven?"

He, together with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, were the latest about Celtics free agency bonanza. Seems good enough roster to chase NBA Title, too early I guess.

Ray Allen inked again as a Celtic

Ray Allen will be a Celt again.

The deal is reported to be for $20 million dollars over two years with the second year being a player option. You have to assume that Allen took a hometown discount to stay here, as there are definitely teams out there willing to give him a third year.

Allen has said throughout the course of his time as a member of the Celtics that he wanted to stay in Boston and retire here. His maturity and professionalism over his successful career is truly something that you really don't see a whole lot of in sports anymore. Not only is Allen still a great player in this league, he is a great role model for younger players who might take what they have for granted- and there are many out there.

You can't deny Allen's work ethic- the man shows up three hours before every game and takes his pregame shots from all over the court. His body, even at age 34 (35 on July 20th), is still in possibly the best shape of his life. He prides himself on being the best conditioned body on the court at all times, and that is something that you can expect to see until he retires (and maybe after that too- he plans on running the Boston Marathon after he retires).

Seems the Boston Celtics wanted to go for another title shot using the original big three in the East and send back the school the most recent big three. To Ray Allen please don't shoot three you can catch and shoot the ball 15 feet away from the basket that makes you more efficient.

Spain it is.

Spain was your World Cup Champion.

via

JOHANNESBURG -- Howard Webb, the English referee responsible for Sunday night's World Cup final, went into his pocket for yellow cards 14 times -- more than doubling the previous record of six set during the tumultuous 1986 final between West Germany and Argentina.

The scary thing is, Webb's only mistake was that he didn't give out more.

After a tournament marred by poor officiating, Webb will undoubtedly catch his share of grief in the coming days, particularly from Dutch supporters. The Netherlands received nine of the cards, including a pair for John Heitinga, who was sent off in extra time, essentially finishing his team's chances. But the Dutch deserved nearly all their bookings and were lucky not to have been given more. They played like thugs.

Again, however, it's not Webb's job to justify his actions Sunday night. It's up to the players to justify theirs.

A World Cup final, the biggest game of their lives, and they made Johannesburg's littered streets look clean by comparison.

Well in any sports its always a bad officiating when you lose.
